Belrose Brown Ale
When a club favourite went out of production, Club Belrose (AKA Belrose bowling club) came to us and said "Can you make us a brown ale that tastes like this?"
"Why not!" - we said.. and thus, the Belrose brown was born! 4.6% ABV
It's a medium-bodied brown ale that showcases the rich character of Australian-grown barley and wheat, paired with the deep, nutty depth of brown malt. Brewed for balance and subtle complexity, it features toasted biscuit notes, subtle hints of dark chocolate, and a gentle caramel sweetness that lingers smoothly on the palate.
What sets this ale apart is a distinctive sparging technique: after the mash, dark roasted malts (typically reserved for the grist) are instead introduced solely during the sparge. This innovation draws out the intense mahogany-brown colour and just a whisper of roast bitterness, leaving behind the heavy acrid or burnt flavours often associated with higher roast additions. The result is a clean, elegant brown ale with visual depth and refined drinkability.
Pairing Suggestion:
This smooth, nutty brown ale is right at home alongside Aussie pub classics. Think a classic chicken schnitzel with chips and gravy, a hearty steak sandwich loaded with caramelised onions and BBQ sauce, or a juicy beef burger stacked with bacon, cheese, and a tangy relish - the malt sweetness and subtle chocolate notes play beautifully with rich, savoury flavours.
Pizza-wise, it’s a natural match for wood-fired options like meat lovers, BBQ chicken, or mushroom - anything with a bit of char and umami depth. Snack it up with crispy chicken wings, potato wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli, or even a bowl of beer-battered onion rings.
Easy-drinking, balanced, and built for the bar - this is the kind of beer that settles in just as comfortably as you do.
